Job Summary
Responsible for leading company-wide fleet activities starting with developing and executing a long-term fleet strategy. Additional responsibilities include the acquisition, maintenance, disposal, and tracking of all business vehicles and related equipment the negotiations and authorization of contracts for fleet purchases and leases, preparing specifications for equipment to be purchased or modified and developing and implementing fleet policies, procedures and processes. This role also oversees the maintenance and repair process of transportation vehicles and for replacement units while vehicles are being repaired. Recommends disposal of vehicles through trade-in or salvage, based on records and inspections. Works with DOT compliance team to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations along with local regulations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Create long-term fleet program strategy to enable continued growth of the business and the corresponding fleet needs.
Prepare fleet data and analysis and present to senior management and end users enabling sound business decisions.
Prepare annual planning and budgets; provide assistance and input into capital and operating budgets and re-forecast as needed for regional operating teams.
Resolve fleet related issues within local, regional, and corporate policy & procedures.
Lead fleet related matters for acquisitions.
Create and report monthly on critical fleet metrics and companywide fuel analysis. Direct contact management with company fleet management provider.
Work with multiple internal partners to promote companywide initiatives, e.g., senior leadership, regional leadership, EHS, and others.Oversee the acquisition and disposal of fleet units.
Oversee the administration of fleet maintenance, registration, and subrogation programs.
Oversee the administration of fuel programs.
Gather and compile data required for annual fleet planning, vendor RFPs and function and fleet requests.
Negotiate nationwide contracts and make such contracts available for various regions.
Develop and apply administrative policies and procedures for fleet and related repair and preventative maintenance operations.
Develop and implement additional companywide fleet policies and procedures as needed.
Manage and train associates; coordinate work and evaluate performance.
Preferred Qualifications
10-15 years’ experience in fleet management.
Experience interpreting technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
Experience with large/medium/light duty trucks and lift equipment
Exceptional knowledge of purchasing, managing vendor/supplier relationships and strategic sourcing
Demonstrated expertise translating business objectives into financial impacts and needs
Expertly translates desired business outcomes into comprehensive yet easy-to-understand financial strategies and plans
Ability to manage financial initiatives, tracking and reporting on progress and course-correcting to achieve desired results
Ability to deliver on priorities and clearly articulate desired outcomes, tactics, and behaviors
Strong to advanced Microsoft Office Skills (PowerPoint ) and excellent EXCEL skills needed

Typical Training/Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification.
Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Environmental Job Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel less than 20% of the time.
